“I have been wearing Wes’s clothes since I met him in 2009-even before he met my brother! I actually went to his first fashion show and instantly became a fan for life.” She was inspired by a gown from the Carolina Herrera Spring 2018 bridal collection, and with Wes’s help and dedication, they were able to create her dream dress. “My brother-in-law, Wes, who is a consultant at the house, worked very closely with me to design the perfect dress,” explains Julia. For the outdoor ceremony, Julia wore a custom satin Carolina Herrera gown. A massive chuppah that incorporated lush wild florals created a focal point at the end of the aisle-“I wanted it to look like it was growing out of the ground,” says Julia. Saturday’s wedding ceremony and dinner celebration were held next door at Julia’s parents’ house, Botsford Hill Farm. I was in a meeting at work when I received a text from his mom, saying: ‘I am so excited!! I hope Julia says yes!’ So, technically, Lane’s mother proposed to me on behalf of Lane.”
The day before he was planning to pop the question, Lane’s mom accidentally texted me instead of my mom-which is basically everybody’s worst nightmare. “Lane had been planning the proposal for months, and I had no idea that it was coming. “It’s a funny story,” Julia says, laughing. “Lane took me to dinner once a week for months before there was any sign of progress.”įour years after that pivotal party, Lane proposed. “We were not off to the races from the start,” admits Julia. The two started talking at a mutual friend’s birthday dinner. “It was not a setup,” insists Julia Arnhold, a senior strategist at Gin Lane, of the first time she met Lane Gerson, the cofounder of men’s footwear brand Jack Erwin.
We worked with the brilliant Stephanie Fishwick, who was able to make each communication with our friends and family feel incredibly personal. After we got engaged, we wrote letters to our guests to save the date for our wedding weekend.
